WESTPORT, CT — Richard Gere, the legendary actor of "Pretty Woman" and "An Officer and a Gentleman" fame, was recently spotted ice skating with his family at Westport's outdoor ice rink in Longshore Club Park.

Local realtor and lifestyle guru Mar Jennings posted a photo on his Facebook page of the event.

"Look who I got to teach skating today!" Jennings wrote. "At the PAL Rink at Longshore, every lesson under the stars is more than just skating—it’s about community, connection, and celebrating the spirit of our town. If it’s good enough for Richard Gere, it’s good enough for all of us."

Gere, who recently moved to Spain with his family, is no stranger to Connecticut.

According to Jennings, the Geres are renting a home in Connecticut for the holidays, and in the summer of 2022, Gere and his wife, Alejandra Silva, bought Paul Simon and Edie Brickell's former New Canaan home for $10.8 million.

He subsequently sold the 32-acre New Canaan property, which is on Brookwood Lane, to SBP Homes for $10.75 million. The development company demolished the home on the property, while preserving some architectural elements, earlier this year, and is subdividing the land into nine lots.

Before moving to New Canaan, Gere owned a 50-acre estate in nearby Pound Ridge, New York.
