2nd Suspect Arrested In Robbery Of Jewelry Store In Westport

Two men are accused of a May 2024 smash-and-grab robbery at Lux, Bond & Green on Main Street.

WESTPORT, CT — A second suspect has been arrested by Westport police in connection with the smash-and-grab robbery of the Lux, Bond & Green jewelry store in May, according to authorities.

Bridgeport resident Joshua DeJesus, 25, was apprehended by Bridgeport police on Wednesday and turned over to Westport authorities, who arrested him on charges of first-degree larceny, conspiracy to commit first-degree larceny, and conspiracy to commit first-degree criminal mischief.

DeJesus and fellow Bridgeport resident Javon Thorbourne are accused of using sledgehammers to smash display cases in the store and snatch jewelry. Thorbourne was arrested in late May.

No injuries were reported in the robbery, as the store's employees fled to the back of the store for safety.

The two suspects then ran from the store, hopped into a black BMW, and drove off on the Post Road East toward Fairfield, according to police.

According to Westport Police Lt. Eric Woods, the department is still investigating the crime, and more arrests could be forthcoming.

DeJesus is being held in lieu of bail of $250,000, and is scheduled to be arraigned in Stamford Superior Court on Thursday. Thorbourne remains in custody on bail of $500,000, and is scheduled to next appear in court on Jan. 16.
