WESTPORT, CT — The Westport Sunrise Rotary's 16th annual Great Duck Race is scheduled for 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, June 28, on Jesup Green and the Taylor Municipal Parking Lot in downtown Westport.

"Over 5000 people attended the 2024 Duck Race and we raised over $83,000 for local charities," organizers wrote in a statement. "We expect even higher numbers this year!"

The rotary is hoping to raise more than $90,000 during the 2025 event; Duck Race raffle tickets can be purchased here.

To accommodate the set-up of the various activities and displays associated with the Duck Race, Westport police said the Taylor lot will be completely closed to the public, beginning on Friday evening Friday, June 27, and will re-open on Saturday afternoon.

"Illegally parked vehicles within the lot will be ticketed and/or towed," police said in a statement.

Also in the downtown area this weekend is the Westport Sidewalk Sales shopping event, which begins on Friday, and the annual United Nations “jUNe Day” event is also scheduled for Saturday.

"With the additional limitations on downtown parking caused by the Duck Race’s use of the municipal lot, motorists should expect increased pedestrian traffic in the area as well as delays throughout the day," police said. "Attendees are reminded to use the marked crosswalks in the area when patronizing these events."
