A Second Sewer Collapse Means Post Rd. Work Continues Monday

Road crews will be working Monday — starting at 9 a.m. and continuing into the evening — in the same area of the Post Road where the first sewer collapse took place late last week. Expect traffic delays.

“According to the Public Works Department, the new section is smaller in size but is in the same area [as] the previous collapse,” an announcement on the Westport town government website stated.

Eastbound traffic near 468 Post Rd. East is down to one lane, while there are two lanes for westbound traffic. When work starts, there will be one lane in each direction.

Again, authorities are suggesting that drivers use detours and give these two suggestions:

• South Compo Road to Greens Farms Road to Hills Point Rd or the Sherwood Island Connector.
• North Compo Road to Cross Highway to Roseville Rd can be used.
