Arrest Made After Intoxicated Disturbance At Yacht Club In Westport: Police

The suspect, a Greenwich man, is accused of trying to assault police officers, according to authorities.

WESTPORT, CT — A 23-year-old Greenwich man was arrested by Westport police over the weekend in connection with an alleged drunken disturbance at Cedar Point Yacht Club In Westport in July, during which the suspect is accused of assaulting police officers.

Max Anker was taken into custody by Greenwich police on an active warrant Saturday, and was turned over Westport police who charged him with the following:

  • Interfering with an officer
  • Assault of a public safety worker
  • Criminal attempt to assault a public safety worker
  • Breach of peace, second degree

According to Westport police, the incident occurred at about 9 p.m. on July 30, when officers were called to the Bluff Point yacht club.

"It was reported that a man who was suspected of being intoxicated was arguing with members of the club and refusing to leave when asked to do so," wrote Lt. Anthony Prezioso in a statement. "Witnesses expressed a concern for the man’s safety based on his state."

Officers found the man, identified as Anker, but he initially ran from authorities who tried to speak with him about the incident.

"He then reportedly continued to disobey verbal commands and physically resisted efforts to detain and restrain him, while actively trying to harm the officers," Prezioso told Patch, adding that Anker was not taken into custody at that time, but police later obtained the warrant for his arrest.

Anker was released after posting bond on bail of $75,000 over the weekend, and he is scheduled to appear in Stamford Superior Court on Sept. 9.
