Balducci's Market In Westport To Close: CT Labor Department
The store has notified state and local officials of its pending closure.

WESTPORT, CT — Balducci's, the high-end grocery store at 1385 Post Road East in Westport, will "close to the public no later than February 28, 2026," officials with parent company Albertsons announced last week in a letter to the state Department of Labor and local officials.
The store currently employs 59 non-union workers, and some are expected to lose their jobs as a result of the pending closure, but an exact number of layoffs was not disclosed.
Officials said that "as many associates as possible will be placed in a position at another location. Anyone who is not offered a role would be eligible for severance pursuant to applicable Company policies."

A spokesperson for the company told CT Insider the closure was "due to real estate considerations."
In addition to the Westport location, Balducci's also has a store on East Putnam Avenue in Greenwich, and Acme-branded stores in Connecticut, also owned by Albertsons, in New Canaan, Stamford and Riverside.
