Bridgeport Man Arrested for Burglarizing Westport Home
Westport police reports: Feb. 2-6.

David Ortiz, 42, of Bridgeport, was charged Feb. 2 with third-degree larceny and third-degree burglary. An arrest warrant was served for Ortiz at Norwalk Superior Court in reference to an incident in September 2009 where Ortiz allegedly was involved in a burglary at a residence in Westport. He was held at the court on a $50,000 bond pending his arraignment.
Miriam Bernstein, 23, of 245 Sturges Highway, Westport, was charged Feb. 3 with DUI, traveling unreasonably fast and failure to drive right. Bernstein turned herself in on an active warrant related to a motor vehicle crash in December 2011. The accident occurred on Center Street and West Parish Road. At the time of the accident, officers detected an odor of an alcoholic beverage emanating from her breath, but she was transported to Norwalk Hospital for medical treatment. A warrant was subsequently applied for her arrest. She posted bond and was released.
Edward Younger, 57, of, 34 Hyatt Avenue, Westport, was charged Feb. 2 with DUI, failure to drive right and operating an unregistered motor vehicle. An off duty out of town police officer was traveling behind Younger on Saugatuck Avenue and observed him swerving all over the road, nearly hitting several trees and stone walls off the rightmost shoulder of the roadway. He was also seen crossing the centerline almost hitting on coming traffic. The vehicle came to a stop and the off duty officer stayed with Younger until officers arrived on the scene. Officers detected a very strong odor of an alcoholic beverage on Younger’s breath. He failed the field sobriety tests and was taken into custody. He submitted to a breath test with the following results: .2528 and .2656. He later posted bond and was released.

Matthew Jones, 52, of 53 Kings North Highway, Westport, was charged Feb. 4 with second-degree failure to appear. Jones was taken into custody at his residence on a warrant for charges stemming from a domestic violence incident on Jan. 20, 2012. He posted bond and was released.

Elliot Fisher, 52, of 3 Greens Farms Hollow, Westport, was taken into custody at his residence Feb. 4 on a warrant for failure to appear in court. The original charge was not specified in the report. He posted bond and was released.
Viktoria Margiyeva, 37, of Bridgeport, was charged Feb. 5 with DUI, failure to obey control signal and failure to drive in proper lane. Margiyeva was seen by an officer while traveling westbound on Post Road East with no rear license plate on her vehicle. She was then observed drifting over the double yellow centerline and turning left onto the Sherwood Island Connector from Post Road East, against the red traffic signal. Once stopped, the officer detected an odor of an alcoholic beverage coming from her breath and her speech was labored and slurred. She failed the field sobriety tests and was taken into custody. She agreed to a breath test however was deemed to have refused because she could not do it correctly after being instructed several times on the correct way. She later posted bond and was released.
Allan Cochrane, 45, of Westport, was involved in a domestic dispute with his girlfriend and charged with disorderly conduct. He was issued a misdemeanor summons to appear in court.
Joseph Vaccarella, 69, of Westport, was charged with breach of peace. Vaccarella got into a verbal then physical altercation with a man who yelled at Vaccarella to “slow down” as he drove past the man’s house, who happens to live in the same neighborhood. He was issued a misdemeanor summons.
