Candidates Set For First Selectman's Race In Westport

Westport's Democrats and Republicans nominated their candidates this week.

WESTPORT, CT — The First Selectman and Selectmen candidates are set for this fall's election in Westport.

Board of Education member Kevin Christie was nominated this week by the Westport Democratic Town Committee to run for First Selectman, while Representative Town Meeting member Don O'Day was tapped by the Westport Republican Town Committee to run for the town's top office.

O'Day is a former Board of Education Chair, who was also a Democrat in the past.

For the Selectmen posts, the Democrats chose Planning and Zoning Commissioner Amy Wistreich, while Republicans selected incumbent Selectwoman Andrea Moore.

Incumbent Republican First Selectwoman Jen Tooker is not seeking re-election, as she seeks the party's nomination to run for Governor in 2026.

"Don O'Day and Andrea Moore will focus on modernizing town and school infrastructure with an eye toward fiscal responsibility and sustainability," the RTC wrote on Facebook. "They will preserve Westport’s 'AAA' bond rating through disciplined financial management. They will respect and support our local zoning while responsibly expanding affordable housing. They will enhance our parks, beaches, and recreational amenities for all residents. They will improve traffic management with an emphasis on pedestrian and cyclist safety."

"Kevin and Amy are energetic, enthusiastic, and ready to lead Westport. Get ready to vote for Christie & Wistreich in November!" the DTC wrote on Facebook.

In addition to the Selectmen races, also on the ballot in the fall are positions on the Board of Education, Board of Finance, Planning and Zoning Commission, Zoning Board of Appeals, and Board of Assessment Appeals.
