Christmas Tree Recycling Reminder Issued By Westport Public Works

Natural Christmas trees are not trash and can be recycled, according to the Westport Department of Public Works.

News release from the Town of Westport:

WESTPORT, CT — The Director of Public Works reminds residents that live Christmas trees WILL NOT be accepted at the Westport Transfer Station (300 Sherwood Island Connector) because natural Christmas trees are not trash and can be recycled.


Mr. Ratkiewich noted, “If you participate in contracted trash pick-ups, please check with your hauler to see if they can deliver your tree to the Yard Waste Facility (180 Bayberry Lane) for a fee.”

Please consider the following ways to recycle your tree:

Before any natural tree recycling, remove all tinsel, lights, and decorations.

Synthetic trees, flocked trees, or trees in plastic bags will NOT be accepted.
