CT Beach Towns Among Best To Live In: 2018 Report

With summer upon us and the weather getting brighter and hotter, many people in Connecticut are probably thinking about escaping to the nearest beach. Well you're in luck, as Connecticut boasts a number of beach towns that are just the right place to be when the summer months kick in.

Personal finance website WalletHub took these seasonal aspirations one step further and put together a ranking of the Best Beach Towns to Live In, and many beach communities in Connecticut made the list.

To come up with its ranking, WalletHub examined six key factors among 205 communities:

1. Affordability
2. Weather
3. Safety
4. Economy
5. Education & Health
6. Quality of Life

For Connecticut, Westport ranked the highest among ocean towns by cracking the top 10. Placing at spot number 9, the coastal Connecticut town ranked below Kihei, Hawaii, however it also ranked just above Florida beach destination Key West.

Norwalk was the next Connecticut community to make the list, ranking at number 33. Other Connecticut communities that made the list include Milford (64), Stratford (66), East Haven (80) and New London (118).

Topping the list was Lahaina, Hawaii, with Florida communities Naples and Sarasota ranking close behind at second and third respectively. Michigan community Traverse City topped the list of best lake towns.

Westport also ranked fifth on the list of Highest Median Household Income (Adjusted for Cost of Living) while New London ranked among the Lowest Median Household Income (Adjusted for Cost of Living). Westport also placed fourth among communities with the Lowest Violent Crime Rate.

Stratford ranked among the communities with the Highest Median Annual Property Taxes, and East Haven was among the five communities with the Fewest Nightlife Establishments per Capita.

4. Mill Valley, CA
5. St. Augustine, FL
6. Santa Monica, CA
7. Boca Raton, FL
8. Kihei, HI
9. Westport, CT
10. Key West, FL
