Dogs Not Allowed on Westport Beaches As of April 1

The town's annual ban on dogs at beaches goes into effect Wednesday, April 1.

Don’t take your dog to Compo, Burying Hill or Old Mill beaches in Westport as of Wednesday, April 1, when the town’s annual ban on animals at the beaches takes effect.

The ban includes all beach property — grass, sand and the parking areas and roads within the beach areas, with the exception of the Soundview parking lot at Compo Beach.

Dogs are welcome back on Oct. 1.

Starting Tuesday, May 1, you’ll also need a town parking emblem on your vehicle if you drive into town beaches.
