Car Accident Lands Driver DUI in Westport

said 52-year-old Rocco Laudaio was involved in an accident where his vehicle struck the rear of another vehicle at the intersection of Canal Street and Main Street.

While speaking to both drivers, the officer could smell alcohol coming from Laudaio, police said. He was taken into custody after he failed the field sobriety tests, police said. 

He submitted to the breath test with the following results: .141 and .147, police said. He was later released after posting $500 bond.

Laudaio was charged with operating under the influence and following too closely. He is due in court May 30.
