WESTPORT, CT — Westport firefighters doused a dumpster fire Thursday morning on Hales Court that came close to igniting a home only a few feet away, according to fire officials.
No injuries were reported in the 11:30 a.m. blaze, but heat from the fire appears to have buckled siding on the exterior of the home.

When firefighters arrived, they found the dumpster fire was "well involved" and doused it quickly.
"The fire was recalled seven minutes after the fire department’s arrival," Assistant Fire Chief Brian Meadows wrote in a statement. "The first arriving companies’ quick initial actions and extinguishment kept the fire from spreading to the structure, limiting damage."
