Former Westport Teacher Pleads Guilty to Sexual Assault

Theron Kissinger, 44, admitted to having sexual relations with a teen he tutored.

Former Staples High School teacher Theron Kissinger, 44, of Southbury pleaded guilty to sexual assault charges.

Kissinger was originally charged with second-degree sexual assault. He pleaded guilty to two counts of fourth-degree sexual assault, according to court records.

He is scheduled to be sentenced on March 1.

The sexual assault came to light after a teen confided in a social worker that she and Kissinger had a sexual relations since November 2014, according to the Norwalk Hour.

Kissinger tutored the teen outside of school and said he wanted to stop performing sexual acts after his wife saw a text message.

The teen was initially uncooperative with police, but eventually admitted that sexual acts were performed. Kissinger also admitted to police he engaged in wrong acts.
