'Grey's Anatomy' Creator Shonda Rhimes Buys Westport Estate: Report

Rhimes, who was honored by the Westport Library earlier this year, bought the home from a famous local couple.

WESTPORT, CT — Shonda Rhimes, the television mogul and producer of the hit shows "Grey's Anatomy" and "Bridgerton," recently bought a 7.5-acre estate in Westport from toy makers Melissa and Doug Bernstein for $15.17 million, according to an exclusive report in the New York Post.

The 38,000-square-foot home has 11 bedrooms and eight fireplaces, Mansion Global reported, and the property also includes a pool, tennis court and kitchen with a pizza oven.

Rhimes is the CEO of the global media company Shondaland, and she was honored during a fundraising event for the Westport Library in June.

Karen Scott of Compass brokered the private sale, which she said is the largest non-waterfront property sale in Westport's history, according to Mansion Global. The estate rests in the town's Coleytown section.

Among home also sports a basketball court, bowling lanes and a billiard room, among other luxury amenities.

The Bernsteins bought the property in 2007 for $5 million, and reportedly built the estate the following year. They sold their toy company, Melissa & Doug, in 2017.
