Hot Wheels and Pretty in Pink in Westport

After a month on display in Westport, a special Maserati at Miller Motorcars in Greenwich.

Drivers motoring along West Putnam Avenue in Greenwich inevitably might be distracted by one of many high-performance cars parked outside Miller Motorcars, the Ferrari and Maserati dealership that also is a purveyor of Maclarens, Rolls Royces and Bentleys.

There’s one car that’s sure to catch more than one set of eyes — a hot pink 2015 Maserati Ghilbi SQ4 tucked in the corner of the lot at the 342 W. Putnam Ave. showroom.

The car is covered with the pink ‘skin’ and emblazoned with decals from the Westport Police Department. The car was given the pink treatment in conjunction with Breast Cancer Awareness Month in October. And after a Breast Cancer Awareness event on Halloween, participants autographed the pink skin.

The car was on display at Miller Motorcars dealership Maserati of Westport — and at the Westport PD headquarters last month, according to a Maserati sales specialist who happened upon an inquiring reporter on Wednesday. Westport’s finest even had the opportunity to slide behind the wheel for a test drive.

“How would you like to be stopped by police in a car like that?” he asked.

After being on display for a month in Westport, the car will be in Greenwich for about a week before the skin is removed, bringing the car back to its original glistening color of Grigio — or metallic light gray, according to the salesman.

And for inquiring minds, the sticker price: $84,175.
