Letter: Kane is the Best Choice for Second Selectman

I’m writing to express my unequivocal support of Melissa Kane's candidacy and the Democratic ticket of Helen Garten and Melissa Kane for Westport's First and Second Selectwomen. Melissa's many years of experience serving the town, coupled with her commendable personal characteristics, make her a terrific choice. 

I ‘ve known Melissa for over thirty years. Neighbors during childhood summers on Compo Cove, Melissa and I shared a love and appreciation of Westport's natural beauty, cultural institutions, and community spirit. 

Over the years, Melissa’s love for, and commitment to, Westport has only grown stronger. While raising children, Melissa used her keen business instincts, creative talent, and interpersonal skills to run a successful local floral design company. She’s also committed to a broad range of community endeavors.

Melissa’s been a tireless supporter of numerous local organizations, from the library to the Green Village Initiative. She is also an engaged, effective member of the RTM, working on issues that are of great importance to the community. Melissa brings her passion for Westport, great sense of humor and intelligence to everything she does. She is an astute listener who considers multiple points of view before coming to any decision.

Melissa truly wants to accomplish what is best for the greater good.  She and Helen Garten, an independent thinker with unparalleled expertise in town finance, are the best team to lead Westport into the future. Westport would be lucky to have them at the helm.
