Macaroni Kid Hosts 2015 Diaper Drive in Westport

Diapers donated are sent to local charities. They are accepting all different brands, sizes and types of unused diapers.

Three Macaroni Kid publishers in Fairfield County are holding a Diaper Drive from May 15 to June 15, spanning the area from Stamford to Newtown with the help of over 20 town coordinators.

Collection sites locally include Chelsea Piers in Stamford, Piper’s Hill in Stamford, Bright Horizons in Wilton, Stamford and Norwalk, Tumble Jungle in Norwalk, and Willows Pediatric in Westport.

Macaroni Kid, an online publication featuring family friendly events and activities happening in local communities each week, has taken over the Diaper Drive initiative that was started in 2007 by CT-Moms Online, a Fairfield County nonprofit parenting organization.

“When CT-Moms Online approached us to see if we wanted to take over this wonderful charitable initiative, we knew in our hearts that we needed to step in,” Meghan Friedland, Editor/Publisher of Macaroni Kid Danbury-Bethel-Ridgefield, said.

Diapers will be donated to local charities such as Family & Children’s Aid in Danbury, Operation Hope, The Bridgeport Rescue Mission, The Domestic Violence Crisis Center, The Tiny Miracles Foundation, Homes with Hope and more.

“It is a perfect fit, as the Macaroni Kid brand is all about connecting local businesses and families and serving our local community,” Cathy Siroka, Editor/Publisher of Macaroni Kid Westport-Greenwich, said. “We’ve learned that local charities are in need of disposable diapers because they are so expensive and are not covered by any government aid.”

All brands, sizes and types of unused disposable diapers and diapering supplies are welcomed, including opened packages or loose diapers, wipes and toiletries. No clothing or other items are accepted. Each location has a marked drop box.

If you would like to get involved in the diaper drive, either by being a drop-off location or volunteering your time to help with diaper collection, please contact local Macaroni Kid publisher Cathy Siroka at catherines@macaronikid.com.
