CT Weather: Cold Friday, Minimal Warmup This Weekend

The good news for this weekend is that it will be dry and feature plenty of sunshine. Temps will moderate a bit, especially in Northern Connecticut as temps could hit 60 degrees. But locations in Southern Connecticut will continue to run several degrees cooler, and on the water we're still talking about wind chill factors in late April.

Temps will also remain chilly at night with lows in the 30s. The National Weather Service says for Southern Connecticut, "Breezy and chilly conditions are expected today in wake of low pressure, with a gradual moderation in temperatures and subsiding of winds through the weekend."

"Highs will run about 5 to 10 degrees below normal today, generally in the lower to mid 50s. Temps will rise to the mid to upper 50s on Saturday, but this is still around 5 degrees below normal for mid to late April. Overnight lows will continue to run below average as well, falling into the 30s each night, with frosty conditions across outlying areas," the weather service says.

In Northern Connecticut temps will be a few degrees warmer each day.

WTNH News 8 Meteorologist Gil Simmons said, "Finally some good weather for a change! Sunshine & some passing clouds today with temps in the low 50s but feeling like 40s with the wind. We are looking at a warming theme over the weekend with lots of sunshine and the dry weather continues through Tuesday of next week."

Here is the updated weather forecast for Southern Connecticut:

Today: Mostly sunny, with a high near 53. Wind chill values between 25 and 35 early. Northwest wind 11 to 16 mph.

Tonight: Mostly clear, with a low around 34. Northwest wind 6 to 13 mph.

Saturday: Patchy frost before 9am. Otherwise, sunny, with a high near 57. Wind chill values between 30 and 40 early. Northwest wind 7 to 11 mph.

Saturday Night: Clear, with a low around 38. North wind 5 to 9 mph.

Sunday: Sunny, with a high near 56. Northwest wind 6 to 9 mph becoming southwest in the afternoon.

Sunday Night: Mostly clear, with a low around 40.

Monday: Sunny, with a high near 58.

Today: Sunny, with a high near 53. Northwest wind 8 to 11 mph, with gusts as high as 21 mph.

Tonight: Mostly clear, with a low around 33. Northwest wind 5 to 9 mph.

Saturday: Sunny, with a high near 56. Northwest wind around 7 mph.

Saturday Night: Clear, with a low around 33. Northwest wind 5 to 7 mph becoming calm after midnight.

Sunday: Sunny, with a high near 61. Northwest wind 3 to 5 mph.

Sunday Night: Clear, with a low around 37.

Monday: Sunny, with a high near 65.
