WESTPORT, CT — A selection of several Westport homes built in the 1950s is under consideration for a historic district designation, reported the Westport News.

Called the Flower Estates at Westport, the homes are located in a neighborhood north of Main Street on Sniffen Road, Calumet and Loren lanes and Fillow Street.

Currently, five homes in the area are under consideration for the designation by the town's Historic District Commission, but homes throughout the neighborhood may be eligible.

The homes were built on a former flower farm, and when new, the homes sold for about $21,000.

Over the years, some have been torn down to make room for newer, larger homes, but many of them still exist, and are among a dwindling number of starter homes in Westport.
