New Massage Therapy Practice Embraces Westport's Health-Conscious Attitude

Owner Diana Remaley, of Diana Remaley Massage Therapy (22 Crescent Road), specializes in deep tissue and sports massage.

The practice is centered around athletes with specific muscular needs and injuries as well as the general public who look to massage for relaxation and stress relief, one reason our town is the perfect place for her business.

"I'm very excited to be practicing massage here in Westport,” Remaley said. “This town is very conscious of health and wellness, and I know I will fit well in the community."

Located in a medical professional building just off Post Road, the office is warm, cozy and comfortable.  Remaley believes wellness is something everyone strives for, and massage therapy is key in both treating and preventing physical, mental and emotional issues that may impede us from enjoying every day life.

"Westport is a very unique town. There's families, lots of kids, and plenty of businesses and businessmen and women, but the common thread seems to be that everyone cares about one another,” Remaley said. “Despite its size, it maintains a small town vibe in that way. “

“The longer I practice massage, the more I realize that everyone can benefit from it, so being in a diverse yet tightly-knit town allows me to work with many different types of people, but still feel like we're all part of one community,” she said.

Clients will note that stretches are often suggested post-session, in order to maintain flexibility and break poor muscle patterns, again as part of a desired wellness model.

Remaley discovered massage therapy while working in a stressful corporate environment.  Firsthand, she realized how massage improves mood, stress and sleep, as well as muscular tension.  Once energy was no longer devoted to feeling tired and overwhelmed, she could devote more energy to exercise and cooking healthful meals, which of course, lead to feeling even better daily.  This is the type of positive life change she wishes all her clients could experience as well.

Remaley is nationally certified (NCTMB) and Connecticut State Licensed (No. 6592) and is a member of the American Massage Therapy Association (AMTA).  Within the AMTA, she enjoys volunteering with the Sports Massage and Community Service Massage Teams.  These teams volunteer massage at road races and other events, such as the annual Arthritis Walk in Fairfield.  In fact, she enjoys volunteering at many other local road races and events in Fairfield County, and asks that her clients mention the events in which they participate, so massages may be offered more frequently and to a wider range of people.

Remaley maintains a regular blog, where clients and prospective clients discuss muscular pain they may be experiencing, and request specific stretches and relief techniques. (www.RemaleyMassage.com/blog) Furthermore, today marks her debut on Westport Patch’s Local Voices blog.
