The following obituary is from the family of Frank R. LaPorta:

Frank R. LaPorta, 63, of Westport, Ct. died courageously and peacefully surrounded by his beloved family on January 20, 2024. He was born on September 28, 1960, to Joseph M. LaPorta and Agnes M. LaPorta in Bridgeport, Ct.

He graduated from Southern CT State University with a Bachelor of Science Degree. He also received a Master of Arts from Hunter College of CUNY. Frank married Maria Guarnieri-LaPorta on July 22, 1995, in NYC. Frank and Maria gave birth to Lauren Luisa LaPorta. They moved from NYC to Westport in 2007.

Frank happily worked for more than a decade as a project manager for the NYC DEP Water Management Division. In 2003 after receiving his M.A. in Education, he made a career change to become a High School science teacher, which he enjoyed doing for many years.

Frank’s humor and kindness is something that his family and friends cherished and will miss the most. Among his many passions are cooking and hosting family gatherings, paragliding, jet skiing, walking, biking, acting, singing, and football. He enjoyed supporting his daughter's synchronized swimming pursuits, including chaperoning and competition announcing. He also enjoyed traveling to see family across the country, as well as yearly visits to Italy.

Frank is survived by his wife Maria and his daughter Lauren, his brothers Stanley, Thomas, Steven, John and his only sister Ann Marie; their spouses, 14 nieces and nephews; their spouses, 12 grand nieces and nephews. Frank is predeceased by his niece, Aislinn.

A private graveside service will be held Saturday January 27, at Saint Michael Cemetery in Stratford. In lieu of flowers, contributions to MSK Pancreatic Cancer Research in his honor would be appreciated, at giving.msckcc.org.
