In the 1970s, she fell in love with the rocky shoreline of Connecticut and made it her adopted home. She and her husband, Jeff, raised three daughters in Westport. A lifelong night owl, Johnna could always be reached by telephone for a midnight chat and spent many happy hours doing so with her sisters. She will be remembered for her cooking, especially her famous chili and Waldorf salads.

Johnna was predeceased by her parents, her sister, Butchie, and her grandson, Ryan. She is survived by her loving husband Jeff; her daughters Nicole (Brian), Danny, and Gabby (Matt); her sister Dana (Tom); brother-in-law Herb; grandchildren Nick, Owen, Anya, Allie, Rebecca, and Jordan; and beloved nieces, nephews, and cousins.
