Obituary: Patricia ('Patty') Ann (Kunch) Palmer, 79, Of Westport

After school, she worked at Norwalk Hospital for over 40 years, first as a registered x-ray technician and then as a manager.

Patricia (“Patty”) Ann (Kunch) Palmer, age 79, passed away peacefully on Sunday, January 21,
2024.

Born and raised in Bridgeport on March 14, 1944, Patti was the adored daughter of Richard “Babe” and Pauline (Cappucci) Kunch. Patty grew up surrounded by a large, close-knit, extended family with aunts, uncles, and cousins on both sides.

Patty graduated from Notre Dame High School and St. Vincent’s School of Radiology in 1964. After school, she worked at Norwalk Hospital for over 40 years, first as a registered x-ray technician and then as a manager. It was at school and at the hospital that she made life-long friends with so many women, friendships lasting decades with so many good times.

Patty lived in Westport for over 50 years and raised her two daughters there. She was an active member of her community, involved in her daughters’ Parent Teacher Association and leader of their Brownie and Girl Scout Troops. She enjoyed reading at Compo and Burying Hill beaches, taking a wide range of local community classes, and was a regular walker at Sherwood Island.

Patty was gregarious and social, always entertaining family and friends at her home. Her two favorite activities were dancing and travel. It was on the dance floor where she met her beloved husband, David “Dave” Palmer. The two spent the next 30+ years traveling and sightseeing, especially in Cape Cod and the Caribbean. She also enjoyed making her donations often at the local casinos.

Pattu is survived by her devoted husband of 35 years, Dave; her daughters Kelley Swift, and
Megan (Swift) Tibball, both of Fairfield; her son-in-law Jeffrey Tibball; and her grandchildren,
Jordan Tibball, Brendan Tibball, and Jackson Swift.

The family would like to extend its sincere and heartfelt thanks to the incredible nurses and caregivers at Bridgeport Hospital who took such good care of her and made her final time
peaceful and comfortable.

Visiting hours will be held on Monday, January 29 from 4pm to 7pm at Harding Funeral Home,
210 Post Road East, Westport.

A mass of Christian burial will be held at St. Luke’s Church, 49 Turkey Hill Road, North,
Westport, on Tuesday, January 30 at 11am.
