Panera Bread Prepares to Serve Westport

Construction of the new Panera Bread in Westport is underway. 

The exterior job has been complete, and contractors now will finish off the construction inside of the building.

Panera Bread plans to open its doors in October where the former True Grace nail salon used to operate in the plaza at 1850 Post Road East. A sign on the front door reads, "Under construction. Opening soon."

The plaza, located on the Westport-Fairfield town line, is currently home to Village Bagels, Walgreens, Home Goods.

Neighbors of the plaza opposed the idea of having a Panera Bread for months. They claimed that the added consumer and delivery traffic would disrupt their neighborhood. 

During a previous Planning and Zoning meeting, a future neighbor of Panera Bread, asked that the plaza owner install a taller, more suitable two-sided fence.
