Pennsylvania Woman Accused Of Stealing Credit Cards In Westport: Police
The incident occurred in 2018, but a warrant for her arrest was not obtained until this month.
WESTPORT, CT — A 52-year-old Philadelphia, Pennsylvania woman was arrested this week by Westport police on larceny and credit card fraud charges in connection with a July 2018 incident, in which credit cards were stolen from a victim in Westport, according to authorities.
Westport police traveled to Lehigh County Prison in Allentown, PA on Monday to arrest Dawn Johnson on a warrant for the following charges:
- Larceny, 5th degree
- Conspiracy to Commit Larceny 5th degree
- Payment Card Fraud
- Conspiracy to Commit Payment Card Fraud
- Payment Card Theft
- Conspiracy to Commit Payment Card Theft
- Identity Theft, 3rd degree
The case began on July 26, 2018, when Westport police received a complaint that a wallet containing credit cards was stolen from a purse at the former Panera Bread location on the Post Road East.

Later that same day, Trumbull police contacted the complainant and reported that their credit cards had been used illegally at stores in their jurisdiction and a bag had been located containing items that had been reported stolen, according to Westport police.
"Through the use of surveillance footage, search warrants, and Law Enforcement Information Sharing, Dawn Johnson was identified as the person who allegedly committed these crimes," wrote Capt. Eric Woods in a statement.

Johnson is being held in lieu of bail of $100,000, and is scheduled to appear in Stamford Superior Court on Aug. 14.
