Popular Fair This Week In Westport; Traffic Advisory Issued

WESTPORT, CT — The annual Yankee Doodle Fair, hosted by the Westport Woman's Club, is scheduled to run from Thursday, June 12, through Sunday, June 15, according to organizers.

"The Yankee Doodle Fair will feature carnival rides and games provided by Stewart Amusements," organizers wrote in a statement. "A pay-one-price unlimited ride wristband will be available for all days of the Fair, including Friday and Saturday nights! Our youngest visitors will be excited to see that Sand Art is returning to the Fair this year."

Hours of its operation for the fair will be from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. on both Thursday and Friday; 1 p.m. to 10 p.m. on Saturday; and from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday.

The event is held at the Westport Woman’s Club, 44 Imperial Ave., and in the Imperial Municipal Parking Lot located on Imperial Avenue. This municipal lot will be closed to the public beginning Tuesday, and will remain closed to the public through Sunday to accommodate the set-up and take down of the carnival's attractions.

"Residents and motorists can expect traffic congestion and temporary delays in the downtown area associated with this event," Westport police wrote in a statement. "Attendees are reminded that there is no event parking allowed on both Thomas Road and Imperial Avenue."

Motorists traveling through the area are asked to exercise caution due to increased pedestrian traffic.
