Westport Firefighters Battle 2-Alarm Brush Fire: UPDATE
The Friday afternoon incident resulted in traffic delays and the temporary closure of a road in Westport.

WESTPORT, CT — Westport firefighters battled a brush fire on I-95 southbound between exits 19 and 18 on Friday afternoon, which resulted in traffic delays and the temporary closure of a portion of Greens Farms Road.
As firefighters arrived at the scene at about 12:20 p.m., they found the fire to be rapidly spreading due to the terrain and wind, and they quickly requested additional resources.
Some firefighters were sent to Sasco Creek Road to fight the blaze, and members of the Fairfield Fire Department were also called to the scene to fight the fire.

"Due to the access limitations caused by terrain, brush overgrowth, and a burning ground level powerline, Fairfield Engine 1 put their ladder pipe in operation and extinguished remaining hotspots with assistance from a Westport Police drone,
successfully containing the fire," Westport Assistant Fire Chief Brian Meadows wrote in a statement.
No injuries were reported, but two lanes of traffic on I-95 were also temporarily closed during the incident.
