Staples Girls’ Golf continued its winning tradition with a 200-254 victory over St. Joe’s at Longshore on April 19, and a 193-221 besting of Ridgefield at Ridgefield Country Club on April 20.
Staples Captain Keeva Boyle was the medalist in both matches, carding a 45 and 44, respectively, in the lineup’s number one position.
In the number two slot at Ridgefield was Captain Ellery Vishno with a solid 47.

“I came out of the match with a score that I’m proud of, but also two new friends. This shows that golf is not just about the numbers, but also about making connections while playing!“ said Vishno.
The Wreckers had to secure the wins without the talent of injured Captain Reilly McGeehan, who looks to be back on the links Monday, away at New Canaan. Sophomore Rachel Pontoriero carded 46 both days, and freshman Katelynn Mitchell rounded out the scoring for Staples.

The JV Wreckers opened up their season with a 10-stroke loss to Ridgefield. Aviva Ross had Staples’ lowest score (53), but saw solid support from Cammie Rubino, Avery Perlstein , Kate Barnes, Isabel Puchert and Ruby Tarshis.
The week of April 24 has the Wreckers on the road Monday at New Canaan (V & JV), Tuesday hosting Darien (JV at Par-3), and Thursday hosting Trumbull (V & JV).
