Staples HS Orchestra Performs With Rock Band '1974'
The two groups plan to reunite this spring to do a performance at Staples High School.
Members of the Staples High School Orchestra performed with the progressive rock band, 1974 at The Lazer Trilogy CD Release Show held on September 23rd in New Britain, CT. The original music was specifically arranged for a string section. Carrie Mascaro, Orchestra teacher at Staples said, “This was a unique opportunity for our students to perform contemporary music in an authentic setting.”
1974 is a progressive rock band led by Staples Math teacher/Guitarist Mike Forgette. “Hailing from Newington, Connecticut, 1974 is a five-piece progressive rock band that conjures up massive and powerful emanations of a bygone era. Since 2007, the band has been awing audiences with punchy guitar riffs, rich vocal harmonies, and high-energy stage shows (website).”
