Staples HS TAG Seeks Those Impacted by Impaired Driving
The Teen Awareness Group is creating a documentary that will play on Grim Reaper Day, the impaired driving awareness and prevention day.

From Westport Department of Human Services: Director of the Westport Department of Human Services Elaine Daignault announced today that The Teen Awareness Group (TAG) of Staples High School (SHS) is seeking individuals with personal stories of how they have been impacted by impaired driving to be interviewed for its annual documentary. The documentary, along with speakers and wellness activities, will be presented to the entire SHS student body during TAG’s annual impaired driving awareness and prevention event, Grim Reaper Day (GRD), scheduled for April 25. The complete documentary will also be available on TAG’s websitewww.teenawarenessgroup.com
If you, a friend, or a family member have been impacted by a drunk or impaired driving incident and are interested in being a part of TAG's continuing efforts to make a difference in the lives of SHS students, please contact Student Outreach Counselor Ed Milton at 203 -341-1285 or via email at emilton@westport.k12.ct.us.
Ms. Daignault stated, “This program is one of the most impactful that TAG organizes as it continues in its mission to encourage students to explore their own behaviors, and that of their peers, in a way that empowers them to make safe and healthy decisions.”

ABOUT GRIM REAPER DAY
GRD is one of TAG’s more intense events; the goal of which is to impress upon individuals the risks and serious consequences of impaired driving. GRD brings to light that 28 people in the United States die in alcohol-impaired motor vehicle crashes every day. This equals one death every 51 minutes, a statistic which has improved significantly since TAG first sponsored the GRD event. TAG incorporates current statistics in order to deter substance-related impaired driving and dangers prior to prom season.
