FAIRFIELD, CT — For the second straight spring, the Staples High School boys lacrosse team came to Sacred Heart University Sunday as the No. 2 seed in the Class L boys lacrosse tournament. And just like last year, the Wreckers bested the top seed and walked away with a state title.

The victim this time was Fairfield Prep, which jumped to an early 2-1 lead before four Staples goals put the Wreckers in front to stay. By the time the final buzzer sounded, Staples had emerged with a 13-6 victory.

Senior Tyler Clark let the Staples offense with three goals, while four teammates tallied two goals apiece: Gavin Rothenberg, Ben Burmeister, Leo Sequenzia and Sam Eigen. Tristan Schaefer and Michael Nealon also scored for Staples.
