Storm Blasts Through Westport Thursday; 200-Plus Without Power
The storm dumped hail, high winds and rain throughout the region.
WESTPORT, CT — A quick, but heavy, storm tore through Westport and the state on Thursday afternoon, toppling trees and knocking out power to more than 200 Eversource customers in town as of about 7 p.m., according to the utility company.
A Tornado Watch remained in effect for the region until 8 p.m. on Thursday, the National Weather Service announced.
At one point, more than 650 Eversource customers in Westport were without power.

Statewide, more than 40,000 Eversource customers were without power Thursday evening, roughly three weeks after Tropical Storm Isaias wrecked havoc on Connecticut. Lawmakers were still investigating the utility company's poor response to that storm this week, which left tens of thousands of its customers without power for days.
