'This is a Witch Hunt ...'

The best of today's comments from Patch account-holders in your town and neighboring communities.

DARIEN: "Amazing how polarized our society has become — my way or highway. I only see what I want. Preserve my little sphere of privilege at any cost. My idiology explains everything. Just don't tax me. I worked hard for my money, others are slackers — and so on ..." This what one Patch reader said in response to a post by "Local Voices" blogger Rachel Reese about her.

FAIRFIELD: "Guilty in the court of public opinion and in the opinion of Richard Vitarelli, but it still has to be proven in a court of law. Saxl and Flatto believe they had a right to act as they did and the Town Charter is just ambiguous enough to argue their case successfully. Is that worth throwing more money away on legal expenses? This is a witch hunt, probably spurned on by the '8 concerned (read: self-righteous) citizens' who made such noise regarding Steinke only to technically win the battle (Flatto and Saxl chose not to appeal the appeal to the appeal to the appeal, ad nauseum) but lose the war. The end result? Tens of thousands (if not more) of taxpayer dollars wasted, the train station is built and Steinke was never reinstated. The lesson here is lick your wounds and let it go. People can still hate Flatto and Saxl if they wish (and what a waste of time and energy that would be) and the Town can save a ton and move forward." This is one Fairfield Patch reader's response to news that the town may consider bringing a lawsuit against  in finalizing an agreement with the state on the Fairfield Metro Center.

SHELTON: "That's it??? The man murdered someone because he decided to be selfish and drive drunk that is ridiculous!!!!!" This is what one reader posted on Shelton Patch's Facebook page in response to a post about the sentencing of a man convicted of killing Shelton Sgt. Orville "Smitty" Smith in a drunk driving accident in July 2010 in Derby Superior Court.

WILTON: "Wilton has become a town of nail salons and liquor stores with a few women's, or should I say young miss, stores thrown in here and there. We couldn't even keep Fairfield Stationers for more than one year. Yes, downtown Wilton needs a plan." This is what one Wilton Patch reader said in response to  to the town.
