WESTPORT, CT — One of the largest protest crowds in recent memory turned out for the No Kings rally in Westport Saturday, in an act of defiance against President Donald Trump and his administration.

An exact estimate of the crowd size was not immediately available, but both sides of the Ruth Steinkraus Cohen Bridge (Route 1) were jammed with people, with one Westport police officer who spoke with Patch placing the number above two thousand.

The rallies coincided with a military parade in Washington DC to mark Trump's 79th birthday, which was also billed as a celebration of the 250th anniversary of U.S. Armed Forces. Organizers of the No Kings rallies did not hold one in the DC area.
