Jen Tooker Raises Thousands In Q1 For Her Gubernatorial Campaign, She Says

Westport First Selectwoman Jen Tooker, a Republican, is seeking her party's nomination to run for governor.

WESTPORT, CT — Jen Tooker, the Republican First Selectwoman of Westport, announced Thursday that her gubernatorial campaign raised more than $66,000 in the first 26 days since its launch.

According to the campaign, Tooker brought in $66,182.12 between March 6, when she formally entered the race, and the end of the first fundraising quarter on March 31.

The contributions came under the guidelines of Connecticut’s Citizens’ Election Program, which caps individual donations at $250. Tooker characterized the fundraising total as an early sign of grassroots momentum.

"I am extremely grateful to everyone who has already contributed to my campaign for governor," Tooker said in a statement. "The support and encouragement I have received has been incredible."

Tooker, who has served as Westport’s chief elected official since 2021, said she entered the race out of concern for the state’s economic direction. In her announcement, she cited Connecticut’s tax burden, business regulations, and state spending as areas of concern.
