On Saturday, December 6th at 8:00 PM, the lively, fun, and toe-tapping bluegrass of On the Trail will be in concert at Westport’s Voices Cafe. Doors open at 7:30 PM. Tickets are $25 and are available at voicescafe.org.

On the Trail is a modern acoustic band that explores everything from bluegrass to contemporary pop, blending stunning instrumentals with traditional songs. The band features Connecticut musicians Austin Scelzo (fiddle, vocals), Tom Polizzi (mandolin, vocals), Charlie Widmer (guitar, vocals), and Matt Curley (upright bass, vocals). Static Noise Magazine praises the group for their “standout songwriting, tight musicianship, and that rare ability to honor tradition while pushing it forward.”

Voices Cafe offers a BYO setting with coffeehouse-style table seating or individual chairs. Guests may bring their own beverages and snacks. Groups of four or more can reserve a table. All concerts support social justice programs in the local community and are presented at the Unitarian Universalist Congregation, 10 Lyons Plains Road, Westport, CT.

On The Trail was formed out of a love for bluegrass and inspired by Punch Brothers. The quartet has earned recognition for their originality and musical skill. Highlights include winning the 2022 Thomas Point Beach Band Competition, participating in the 2021 Telefunken Battle of the Bands at Podunk Bluegrass Festival, and being selected as an Emerging Artist at Grey Fox Bluegrass Festival 2023. Their latest album, Where Do We Go From Here, is available on all streaming platforms.

Bluegrass Today notes, “With powerful vocalists and strong original material, On The Trail has the necessary ingredients to reach even greater heights.” Shari Elder of Thomas Point Beach Bluegrass Festival adds, “The energy and excitement On The Trail brings to both on and off the stage is infectious! They combine exquisite musicianship, superb vocals, professionalism, and audience appeal.”
