Wanted Man Arrested with Marijuana in Westport

Westport police stopped a driver at the intersection of Post Road East and Turkey Hill South on February 4 because the vehicle he was operating had a suspended registration, police said.

Once stopped, police determined that the driver, identified as 38-year-old Miguel Rosa, of Bridgeport, had two active warrants for failure to appear. One warrant was from the Greenwich Police Department and the other was from the Norwalk Police Department, according to a police report.

Rosa was taken into custody and when the officers returned to his vehicle to retrieve personal items they smelled a strong odor of marijuana coming from inside the car, police said.

“Upon searching the vehicle, a marijuana cigarette was found between the seats. Also located was a glassine baggy under the rear passenger seat with a green leafy substance believed to be marijuana, and two packages of rolling papers,” the arrest report states.

Rosa was issued an infraction for possession of marijuana (less than one half of an ounce) and posted a $1,000 surety bond for the warrants, police said.

He is scheduled to appear in State Superior Court in Norwalk on February 15.
