Westport Board Of Ed Member Kevin Christie To Run For First Selectman

The Democrat, who was elected to the school board in 2021, will be seeking the party's nomination at the endorsement vote in July.

WESTPORT, CT — Westport Board of Education member Kevin Christie, a Democrat, is running for First Selectman, the Westport Democratic Town Committee Nominating Committee announced Wednesday. He will be seeking the party’s nomination at the endorsement vote in July.

"Kevin Christie brings strong leadership, transparency, and community engagement to Westport’s government," party leaders wrote in a message to constituents. "He is committed to preserving what makes Westport special while preparing for the future—ensuring the town is well-managed, fiscally responsible, and inclusive for all residents. Kevin believes that good governance starts with listening and that collaborative leadership produces the best results for Westport."

Christie, who was first elected to the school board in 2021, is currently Chair of its Policy Committee, and "is passionate about ensuring the excellence of Westport Public Schools while preparing all students to reach their full potential." While on the Board of Education, Christie "has delivered on all of his campaign promises—championing strong student outcomes, improving facilities, and strengthening governance."

Before transitioning to municipal and community service, Kevin spent over 15 years in finance, investment banking, and corporate strategy, advising CEOs and boards and leading cross-functional teams in executing over $40 billion in strategic and financial transactions. He brings this strategic acumen and leadership experience to his public service, ensuring that Westport’s governance is both effective and forward-thinking.

Kevin has been deeply involved in his twins’ school communities, serving in numerous committee co-chair and volunteer roles for the Coleytown Elementary School PTA, including treasurer. He has also coached youth soccer through the Westport Soccer Association and previously served on the admissions committee at West Side Montessori School in New York City.

Kevin holds an MBA from the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University and a B.S. in Applied Mathematics from Union College.
