UPDATE: Power Restored at Westport Family Y

"We're happy to report that the Family Y's electrical systems are back online and fully operational, said Family Y spokesperson Scott Smith, adding that the Family Y will open as planned on Thursday at 5:30 a.m.

Programs and classes will run on their regular schedules, Smith said.

The Westport Weston Family Y experienced an unexpected power failure early this afternoon, according to Family Y spokesperson Scott Smith.

As a result, the Family Y is closed and will remain closed until the cause of the power failure is found and corrected, Smith said.

"We are working with our electrical contractor to help us determine the cause of our internal problems," he said, adding that updates will be provided as further news develops. 

The latest information will also be posted on www.westporty.org.

"We are striving to resolve this issue as quickly and as safely as possible. Thank you for your patience and understanding," the Family Y's website states.
