WESTPORT, CT — Despite the best efforts of Westport firefighters Eric LaRiviere and Chris Carroll, in addition to Animal Control and Westport Animal Shelter Advocates, a mother cat and her kittens remain stuck in a storm drain pipe on the Post Road East in Westport.

The cats appear to have gotten stuck over the weekend, and the firefighters will continue efforts to free them if it becomes possible this week.

"Unfortunately, the cats moved further back into the pipe, which empties into a 12-foot well," fire officials wrote on Facebook. "We’re hopeful to assist further this week and help save these precious kittens. Stay tuned for updates on the rescue efforts."
