The Westport Garden Club’s Plant Sale, scheduled for Friday, May 8 on the grounds of Saugatuck Congregational Church has been cancelled. The club had hoped to reschedule the event for a later date, however due to ongoing concerns for the safety of public gatherings, a new date for the sale cannot be determined at this time.

Held annually since 1928 (with the exception of the years spanning World War II), organizers hope to resume the sale in 2021 in its usual slot, the Friday before Mother’s Day. Additionally, the club’s open meeting scheduled for Thursday, June 11, has also been cancelled. The next open meeting is scheduled for Thursday, September 10.

The public gardens the club maintains are open for respite, particularly Grace K. Salmon Park and the Nevada Hitchcock Garden where new daffodil plantings were made in the Fall. The Westport Pollinator Pathway Project, launched last year with partners Earthplace and Wakeman Town Farm, continues and educational programs will be added as circumstances improve.
