Westport Suspect Accused Of Dealing Drugs That Led To An Overdose In Fairfield: Police

The overdose victim was successfully revived by police, according to authorities.

FAIRFIELD, CT — A 42-year-old Westport man has been arrested in connection with a drug overdose in Fairfield, Patch has learned.

James Vickers was arrested by Fairfield police earlier this month on a warrant charging him with possession of a controlled substance and sale of a narcotic substance. He is currently free after posting a $20,000 bond, and is scheduled to appear in Bridgeport Superior Court on June 23.

"The arrest follows a months-long investigation that began when Fairfield Police responded to an emergency medical call for an overdose," Sgt. Jenna Wellington told Patch in a statement. "Responding officers rendered aid and successfully revived the individual, who was then transported to the hospital by [American Medical Response].

"After a lengthy follow-up investigation, probable cause was found that Vickers sold the drugs that led to the overdose," Wellington said.

The sergeant added, "We are proud of the swift and life-saving actions taken by our officers at the scene, as well as the dedication of our detectives who worked tirelessly to trace the source of the drugs harming members of our community. This case reflects our continued commitment to both saving lives and holding those responsible accountable."
