Westport Man Allegedly Steals Wallet, Money at Local Dunkin' Donuts
Westport police reports: April 19-23.
- Luis Mora, 45, of Port Chester, New York, was charged April 19 with issuing a bad check after Westport police officers responded to Greenwich Police Department where Mora was taken into custody on an arrest warrant. Mora allegedly wrote a check to Gault Inc. to pay for masonry products without sufficient funds in the account, police said. An arrest warrant was applied for and granted. He posted $5,000 bond and was released.
- Michael Stoico, 54, of Hurley, New York, was charged April 19 with operating under the influence, failure to drive in proper lane and failure to carry insurance card. The vehicle that Stoico was operating had been reported operating erratically westbound on Post Road East, police said. An officer located the vehicle and was behind it as it abruptly braked and made a right hand turn on Myrtle Avenue into the on coming lane, the police report indicated. Once the vehicle was stopped, the officer could smell a strong odor of alcoholic beverage on his breath. He failed the field sobriety tests and was taken into custody where he submitted to the breath test with the following results: .118 and .079. He was later released after posting $250 bond.

- Peter Halka, 24, of 17 Roseville Road, Westport, was charged April 21 with sixth-degree larceny. Apparently the victim accidentally left their wallet on the counter of the located at 606 Post Road East, but when the victim returned, the wallet was gone, police said. Management was able to view the video surveillance and observed the suspect, later identified as Halka, grab the wallet off the counter on his way out, according to police. He was identified through his credit card transaction prior to taking the wallet and was located at his home, police indicated. His physical description matched that of the suspect in the Dunkin Donuts video surveillance. He had taken the cash from the stolen wallet, and then threw the wallet in a garbage can at a gas station where it was later recovered, police said. He was taken into custody and later released on a promise to appear in court May 1.
