Westport PD: Norwalk Driver Swerves With Open Beer, Gets DUI
The driver refused the breath test at police headquarters.

Cheryl Briganti, 45, of Norwalk, was charged April 22 with operating under the influence, failure to have lights lit, failure to drive in proper lane and driving the wrong way on a one-way street.
Westport police officers on patrol noticed a vehicle traveling westbound on Post Road East in the area of Morningside Drive with its headlights off, swerving from the left travel lane to the right travel lane.
The driver, later identified as Briganti, then turned around through a center medium in the wrong direction, police said. Once stopped, the officer noticed that she had slurred speech and an odor of alcoholic beverage on her breath, police indicated in their report.

The officer also noticed a half full, open bottle of beer in the right front passenger floor area of the vehicle. Briganti was asked to perform the field sobriety tests, which she failed, and was taken into custody and transported to . She refused to take the breath test, but later posted $500 bond and was released for court May 3.
