WESTPORT, CT — The Westport Police Department received a Gold Traffic Safety Award from AAA Northeast on Friday as part of the organization’s annual traffic safety awards program.

Westport was one of 12 police departments in Connecticut to receive recognition this year. The Gold award is the organization’s second-highest honor and is given to communities that score highly across several categories, including participation in AAA programs, traffic safety education, engineering initiatives and enforcement efforts.
