WESTPORT, CT — Westport’s Kami Evans has announced she will be running for the State Senate seat for District 26. A passionate advocate for “Family Values and Community Strength”, Kami brings a deep commitment to making a difference in her community, and her extensive experience and education have prepared her to take on the role of State Senator.

Evans holds a bachelor’s degree in Corporate Communications from Southern Connecticut State University (SCSU). Her education gave her a strong foundation in effective communication, strategic planning, and community engagement. Recognizing the importance of continuous learning and leadership development, Evans furthered her education by taking the Public Leadership Credentials from Harvard’s Kennedy School. This advanced training equipped her with cutting-edge public policy, governance, and leadership skills, enhancing her ability to serve her community effectively.

Evans’ professional career is marked by leadership roles highlighting her position as the Director of Community Outreach for GCA of Fairfield. There, she led initiatives that connected the local community with opportunities to engage youth in sports. Under her leadership, the organization experienced a significant increase in financial resource allocation through donations, making a tangible difference in the lives of many families.

In addition to her professional work, Evans has worked with local nonprofits such as “Filling In the Blanks”, “The Westport Museum for History & Culture”, and “The Barnum Festival”. She has served on the Westport Downtown Association and Saugatuck Nursery School boards. She is a Minute Man Yacht Club Governor, part of the Westport-Weston Chamber of Commerce, and participated in the AWARECT Gala committee focusing on empowerment of women and girls. Evans has also attended numerous times with UNA-USA events and produced multiple videos for UN Women for International Women’s Day over the past four years.
