Westport Residents To Be Honored By Local Charity At 20th Anniversary

Westport couple April and Michael Book will be honored for their work by nonprofit Circle of Care on June 13.

WESTPORT, CT — To commemorate 20 years of helping families of children with cancer, local nonprofit Circle of Care is holding its 20th Anniversary Gala in Stamford on Thursday, June 13. Themed Kaleidoscope: Colors of Courage, this gala will be a festive evening that includes a cocktail reception, dinner, an auction, and lively entertainment to celebrate the children and families “in their Circle,” as well as the dedicated support of their volunteers and donors.

The gala will honor long-time Westport residents April and Michael Book. April has been an integral program volunteer at Circle of Care since 2019 and has served on their Board of Directors for the past two years. Michael is Managing Partner at Lenox Advisors, a financial services firm, and Circle of Care sponsor. Both April and Michael have been closely involved with the nonprofit as dedicated supporters, donors, and volunteers ensuring the success of their daily operations and fundraising efforts so that no family has to face their child’s cancer diagnosis alone.

For the past 20 years, Circle of Care has been providing practical, emotional, and financial assistance to children with cancer and their families in Connecticut and now its surrounding communities of Western MA and Westchester, NY. This includes financial assistance, peer counseling, day of diagnosis care packages, dream room makeovers, and activities for adolescents and young adults with cancer to connect with each other.
