Westport Students Recognized in Writing Contest
Four Westport students will be honored at a reception on the UCONN campus at Storrs on Thursday, May 11.

From Westport Public Schools: Four students from the Westport public schools have gained recognition in the 2017 Connecticut Student Writer's contest, sponsored by the Writing Department of the University of Connecticut. Their entries were chosen from over 1,500 submissions statewide.
Molly Fording, a 10th grader at Staples, won First Prize for her poem "The Daughter Poem" and will be published in the annual Connecticut Student Writer's Magazine.
Amy Hogan, a 7th grader at Bedford Middle School, was awarded an Honorable Mention for her short story "Holding on to the Spotlight."

Also gaining Honorable Mentions in the fiction division were two 7th graders from Coleytown Middle school, Sophie Alcyone for "And She Had No Shoes" and Erin Durkin for "Healing Storm."
The students will be honored in a reception at the Jorgensen Center for the Performing Arts on the UCONN campus at Storrs on Thursday evening, May 11.
