Westport Team Runs for a Cause

Team "Pink Aid" raises $18,000 running Philadelphia Marathon.

Joining some 30,000 other runners at the 20th annual Philadelphia Marathon this past Sunday was Westport’s own “Team Pink Aid” which raised over $18,000 on behalf of uninsured women diagnosed with breast cancer.

Running the 26.2 mile event was Kenneth Olson, Karin Sawyer and Richard Nadel, cheered on by honorary team captain Pamela Olson. Team Pink Aid ran to support Westport’s local organization that dedicates itself to helping women who are diagnosed with breast cancer and need both financial and other support.

Pink Aid’s mission is to assist women that cannot afford to go through treatment with the proper care and dignity. According to Pink Aid, ‘When a woman is diagnosed with breast cancer, she needs a lot more than medical help. She needs rides to and from treatments, babysitting, grocery delivery, medical navigation, wigs, recovery garments and so much more.”
